Naya Raipur, the new capital for the State of Chattisgarh, is panned as a large green field city with modern amenities, open spaces and the new civic heart. The city is built on a network of streams that eventually drain into Mahanadi River. Naya Raipur Development Authority appointed the team of Buildkrafft and Studiopod to develop a vision plan for the catchment area of 5 critical streams in the region.

The Naya Raipur streams were developed along the principles of sustainable urban drainage where the streams a envisaged as permeable landscape that are allowed to soak, and retain the storm water within the city. These stream are then programmed to become multi modal non-motorized corridors that connect the city with a system of active linear parks. A connected programmed open space network created along the streams opens up new frontiers in sustainable urban development that is water sensitive and truly green.
