Bringing joy to communities through placemaking

Worli Connect is an urban design placemaking initiative to develop a connected pedestrian realm network within the dense city fabric of Worli, Mumbai. It contains a series of disconnected public parks with pedestrian alleyways (800m) prominently in the east-west direction, addressing issues such as dark and dingy alleyways. It provides a comprehensive solution for an existing network of streets.

The masterplan envisioned to transform a total of 3km of this network including these pedestrian connectors into fun, vibrant, connected public spaces with mini-programmatic elements with activities benefiting the local community. Nodes 1, 2 and 8 have been executed as per the larger masterplan vision. StudioPOD developed and detailed these nodes with special emphasis on the local art, culture and historic heritage of the place and its people.
