Sarita Vihar Junction signalised T junction in a residential district of South Delhi with a school located in its close vicinity. Additionally, due to its close proximity to the Sarita Vihar Metro Station, it receives increased footfall during office hours. Although this junction is a major node located close to the metro station and a busy commercial district, the pedestrian infrastructure is extremely lacking in terms of misplaced and discontinuous crossings and inaccessible or broken footpaths. Furthermore, the footpaths are inaccessible to pedestrians causing all children to gather on the road once their session is over.

A one month long trial was conducted at the junction. It aimed to address these issues by firstly, correcting the road geometry to streamline vehicular movement and reclaiming public realm along the carriageway. IPT stands and bus stops were introduced in the newly reclaimed public realm to accommodate the existing public transport network. Additionally, pedestrian crossings were introduced. As a result of the proposed design, the public realm was increased by 68%.
